The giant steps taken by the Turkish defense industry continue to herald our country's pioneering role in the global arena. In this video, we will share the good news and details of the Royal Malaysian Navy's procurement of 3 MİLGEM Corvettes from Turkey.
First of all, let's explain what a MİLGEM Corvette is. MİLGEM is a multi-purpose detachment ship class that can meet the modern needs of the Turkish Navy. Also known as Island Class Corvettes, these ships stand out with their superior combat capabilities, high mobility and flexibility. They can be used in a wide range of missions, from air defense to anti-submarine defense, from electronic warfare capabilities to amphibious operations.
So what are MİLGEM's equipment? These ships incorporate many advanced technologies developed by domestic companies. Smart systems such as ASELSAN's 30 mm MUHAFIZ Gun System, CENK 3D Search Radar, ARES 2D Radar, Scorpion Fire Control Radar, Chaff Deceptive and IFF Friend-Foe Identification System, ROKETSAN's ATMACA Anti-Ship Missile, and HAVELSAN's Combat Management System are included in the inventory of these ships.
So far, four MİLGEMs have been produced for the Turkish Navy. In addition, four MİLGEMs have been exported to Pakistan and two to Ukraine. Malaysia, on the other hand, has decided to purchase three MİLGEMs in parallel with the “15 to 5 Transformation Program” as part of the modernization of the Royal Navy.
This decision is based on the “Memorandum of Understanding on State-to-State Procurement of Defense Products” signed between Turkey and Malaysia. This Memorandum of Understanding is Malaysia's first official document on government-to-government procurement of defense products. This marks the beginning of a new era of strategic partnership between the two countries.
The MİLGEM export is not only a sign of the friendship between Turkey and Malaysia, but also confirms the maturity and global success of the Turkish defense industry. In the coming period, we will continue to cooperate with friendly and allied countries through joint development, production, technology transfer and win-win model.
In this video, the technical details and naval capabilities of the MİLGEMs sold to Malaysia will be discussed in depth. It will also include statements by the President of Defence Industries, footage from the ceremonies, and evaluations by officials from the Royal Malaysian Navy.
If you are interested in maritime, defense industry, war technologies, domestic production and exports, don't miss this video! You will see that Malaysia's preference is for the MİLGEM, which was developed with national capabilities.
