Following a busy week in EastEnders, Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) has made a startling choice that could jeopardise her marriage to George Knight (Colin Salmon). Elaine was compelled to reveal to her daughter Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) that her late father, John, was secretly gay and that Drew Peacock (Paul Clayton), a hen night drag queen, was John's boyfriend after being confronted by a face from the past.

After Elaine and Drew finally came to grips with sharing John, they had a heartfelt conversation in which Drew disclosed that he was HIV positive and that John may have been as well. Elaine felt as though a burden had been removed when they parted ways, but her relationship problems from the past quickly came back to haunt her. Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff), her grandson, said that it was too near the wedding for a prenuptial agreement to be legally valid when she asked him to draft one for her marriage to George. Given her complex situation with John, he encouraged her to talk to George and discuss her concerns, but Elaine chose not to do so as George gave her a lovely present.
