The Dai ethnic group in southwest China's Yunnan Province held various celebration events on Sunday and Monday to mark the annual Water-Splashing Festival.
People of the Dai Autonomous Prefecture of Xishuangbanna released hot-air paper balloons called Kongming lanterns in the air to celebrate the festival, which marks New Year for the Dai ethnic group.
Celebrants also splashed water on one another, to convey wishes for happiness and prosperity, and performed traditional songs and dances.
While the festivities continued, over 400 companies from China and elsewhere attended a trade fair featuring various kinds of handicrafts.
The Water-Splashing Festival usually falls in mid-April and lasts several days. More on: [ Ссылка ]
