Brazil: The Marapendi lagoon appears to have thousands of dead fish

In the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, thousands of dead fish were found on Saturday. The volume of sewage delivered by the recent rains to the area's channel and lagoon system, according to local media, is one of the reasons for the high fatality rate. However, authorities in the field note that "whenever there is a rise in local temperature, there is less water oxygenation," adding that "it is typical to witness an excessive quantity of dead fish in the region."
