Beyond the Headlines: The Practices and Policies to Improve the use of GIS for Pandemic Response and Public Health
While GIS was front page news during the Covid-19 Pandemic, much of the lifesaving potential of spatial data was left untapped. As with most matters of public health, the spread and impact of a pandemic are best understood in the contexts of space and time. Frank Winters, chair of the National Pandemic GIS Task Force, will lead a discussion of data practices and policies that will improve the effectiveness of spatial data in public health. Frank will highlight some of the findings of the task force and explain the National Pandemic GIS Playbook.
