PERFECT FOR A SUNDAY BAKING ADVENTURE! Make these delicious crostoli in under 40min, (30min of which are resting in the fridge- so really only 10min). Originally made around carnival time in Italy, they're so crunchy and flavorful, an amazing treat alongside a tea or coffee.
Full Recipe
Ingredients:
1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
3 tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 tsp salt
1 lemon zest
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla paste
1 tsp honey
2 cups + 2 tbsp 00 flour
Steps:
- In a large bowl beat the eggs, sugar, butter, salt, lemon zest, vanilla paste and honey until combined.
- Sift in the flour and mix
- Work the dough on a surface for a couple of minutes until not sticky
- Cover in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30min
- Cut 1/4 of the dough and start stretching it out on a surface until very thin
- Cut into desired shape and transfer to a paper towel
- Heat up vegetable/canola oil and fry them 1-2 min on each side
- Sprinkle some powdered sugar on top before eating
