A world-renowned scholar, educator, writer, speaker, and media personality on Black music and culture, Dr. Emmett G. Price III is the inaugural dean of Africana Studies at the Berklee College of Music. The  Africana Studies Division was founded in August 2021 as a response to student, staff, faculty, and alumni activism and advocacy, and is the first academic division to cross between Berklee College of Music and Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
