Carroll killed his wife by shooting her in the head twice with a loaded gun. He argues that he did not intend to commit first-degree murder and that his good character and expert testimony should reduce his sentence. However, the court believes that the evidence presented by the prosecution is enough to prove that he did intend to commit first-degree murder. Carroll's own testimony and statements established that he deliberately shot his wife, and his arguments for reduced sentence are invalid.
