I'm experiencing intermittent drop in idling rpm and found out that my distributor cap rotor carbon contact was already defective. Video will show my converted distributor into external ignition coil in replaced with defective built-in ignition coil. I've use multimeter set to resistance test to check continuity of carbon rotor contact.
Normal resistance reading from the HV terminal to center carbon button contact should be 3K ohms. If distributor was not converted or original distributor cap . Resistance between HTW HV terminal and carbon rotor contact should be 300 ohms. A very high resistance will cause intermittent drop in rpm or hard starting of engine.
