"The President's Own" United States Marine Band presents The Complete Marches of John Philip Sousa, a multi-year project to record and publish scores for all of Sousa's Marches. Sousa, known as "The March King," was director of the Marine Band from 1880 to 1892. Recording directed by Col. Jason K. Fettig. [ Ссылка ]
This march was composed at the request of Colonel Osmun Latrobe, Regimental Commander of the 4th U.S. Cavalry, and was dedicated to Colonel Latrobe, his officers and men. The 4th Cavalry showed its appreciation in a unique manner by presenting Sousa with a handsome parchment, colorfully decorated with the crossed flags of the unit and personally signed by all the officers and enlisted men.
The march is unusual in construction in that it is the only Sousa march with a coda.
