Ever wondered if you could legally fly a drone in one of Thailand's national parks? In this video, I share my experience of navigating the process to get permission to fly my drone in Khao Sok National Park. It wasn't as complicated as you might think, but there are a few key things you need to know before you head out to capture those incredible aerial shots of Thailand’s lush landscapes.
Thailand has some pretty strict rules when it comes to flying drones, especially in national parks. Each park has its own specific registration process, and not all parks will allow you to fly. In my case, I got permission at Khao Sok, which was surprisingly easy and completely free. The staff was friendly and helpful, and as long as you have your drone properly registered beforehand, you’re off to a good start.
It’s important to note that not all parks will let you fly, and each park requires you to register separately. If you're visiting multiple parks, you’ll have to go through this process again at each one. It might sound like a hassle, but the amazing views make it worth every bit of effort. Getting permission means you can fly with peace of mind, knowing you're respecting the local regulations and the environment.
Before you even think about heading into a national park, make sure your drone is registered with the proper authorities in Thailand. This step is crucial, as you need to have your drone documentation in place before any park will give you the green light to fly. If you haven’t done that yet, be sure to check out my other video where I walk you through registering your drone with the authorities before arriving in Thailand—it’s a must-watch if you’re planning to bring your drone along.
In this video, I’ll take you through the process of obtaining permission at Khao Sok, share what the experience was like, and provide tips for making it as smooth as possible. Plus, you'll see some breathtaking shots of Khao Sok’s stunning landscapes from above—trust me, the view is worth every bit of the paperwork.
If you’re planning to fly your drone in Thailand’s national parks, make sure you’re doing it the legal way. Flying here is an incredible experience, and respecting the rules not only keeps you out of trouble but helps protect these beautiful areas.
