EPISTAXIS MANAGEMENT
- Epistaxis is a medical term for nose
bleed.
- During a nosebleed blood flows from one
or both nostrils. It can be heavy or light.
It can last from few seconds to 15min or
more.

TREATMENT:
Ask the pt to sit up,bend slightly forward
and tightly pinch the nose for 5 min.
- Keep the ice cubes in the handkerchief
over the nose to induce vasospasm.
- Inj Trenaxa 500 mg IV stat.
- Botroclot drop, can be used.
- If bleeding not stopped, then keep an
adrenaline pack in each nostril:
Take 1 amp normal saline + 1 amp
adrenaline in a bowl.
Wet 2 strips of gauze piece in it.
Insert 1 strip in each nostril and pinch the
nose again.
