Amid an unprecedented political crisis in South Korea, troubles can’t be seen ending for incumbent President Yoon Suk Yeol. A South Korean court on December 31 approved an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk Yeol. The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials confirmed the Seoul Western District Court approved the warrant. As per Korean media, this is the first-ever arrest warrant issued for an incumbent president in South Korea. Yoon is facing a criminal investigation into possible insurrection charges, as he failed to respond to a summons for questioning . Police have tried but failed to successfully raid the Presidential office as part of the investigation. Insurrection is one of the few charges for which a South Korean president does not have immunity. Yoon was suspended from his powers after being impeached by parliament over his decision to briefly impose martial law. He later apologised for his attempt to impose martial law and bowed during a televised speech to the nation. Yoon shocked the nation on Dec 3 when he granted the military emergency powers to combat "anti-state forces"
