Please visit us at: [ Ссылка ] For the last 14 years I have been tracking a population of a critically endangered jewel orchid, Odontochilus hatusimanus, on a mountain near my home in southern Japan. This unassuming species is easy to miss unless you know what you’re looking for. I first saw it out of flower and thought it was a relatively common species, Goodyera foliosa. I photographed them in flower a couple years later and shared these with an orchid expert in Japan. He told me I had stumbled on the ultra rare Odontochilus hatusimanus, a species once thought extinct by Japanese authorities. To date it is only known from two populations, one in Kagoshima Prefecture and the one featured in this video. Lots of other plants featured as well. Why don’t you come along to see one of Japan’s most endangered orchid species in the wild!
