Hi Paul here from PRwilson Media. In this video I'll walk through the simple steps to set up a brand new Twitter account. I'm also a member of the Rotary club of Grantham and this forms part of a video series using our brand new Rotary breakfast club the Grantham Sunrise Rotary as the example.

So I'll create that initial Twitter account. Here we go.

In your browser type in www.twitter.com. And here, on the welcome screen you can see that anyone new to Twitter can sign up with 3 pieces of information.

Your full name, email address and password. I would recommend that you previously create a separate email account using something like gmail or hotmail, just so you can keep that traffic separate from your main work email. I've created one called Granthamsunriserotary@gmail.com . So now I can go ahead and start filling out the details.

So I'll enter my name. OK so if it's a personal profile you can have your personal name there, or an organization. So you've got Grantham, so we can't quite fit all the characters in there so we've shortened it.

The email address and now we click sign up for Twitter. So Twitter performs it's checks to see if the names are already in use - we're ok we meet the rules everything is ok there. So now we can produce the user name. It has to be less than 15 characters So I've shortened it to gransunrotary and that name is available.

There is an option to change it later, although it can sometimes be a convoluted process. So, it's best to get it right from the out.

Now we can click sign up. And this is the wizard that you step through. Step 1 of 6 and let's click let's go.

Now Twitter looks at the perspective of accounts that you would like to follow , it's a news information service so there are all these categories. I would just select a simple one , something like news and then click continue.

The default is filled out at 32 accounts to follow and continue, by clicking on the cross arrows you can reduce that down. So I've selected to follow just this one account for now and I can unfollow that as soon as i've finished the set up. So this is the opportunity to add your profile picture but i would suggest you skip this step and we'll show you in the next session how to actually upload your profile content.

Again synchronizing with your email contacts is never a great thing. The way that Twitter would suggest people you know through email addresses etc it's much better to actually use the twitter interface, search for things , people you already know and then see who follows those people rather than go through your email system.

So again skip this step. Here at the botttom. And the set up is basically complete . I just need to verify with this confirmation email . I can see a new email has come through - social section, confirm you twitter account and I just click confirm now. And that's it, we're live on Twiter, and as you'll notice , there's n egg for the profile picture there's no background so we'll deal with that in the next video. Thanks for listening.
