Surah Hijr begins by describing the remorse of the disbeliever on the day of judgment when they wish they had adopted a different attitude, than the one right now marked with clear disrespect towards the prophet with their name-calling and constant demand for a miracle 6-7. Ignoring the evil of the disbeliever, the surah from Ayat 9-50 seeks to comfort the Prophet and also explain the true nature of the stubborn disbeliever. It starts with the promise of the preservation of the Quran in ayat 9, followed by a list of signs for the power and might of Allah SWT 16-25, from the constellations in the skies, the mountains on earth ending with his ultimate ability to give life and death itself. 26 onwards is the discussion of the beginning of creation, the command to prostrate Adam AS, Iblees’ refusal, and then finally the discourse Allah SWT and Iblees to allow him time, his promise to deviate man 39, and Shaytaan’s own admission that he has no power over the ones who truly submit verse 40. This discourse then ends by stating the destinies of both the disbeliever and the believers. Taking us to the final section of this passage are 4 stories, one of mercy in the story of Ibrahim AS and the angels 51-58, then three stories of divine punishment that came upon the disbelievers of Lut AS, the people of Shuayb AS, and the People of Hijr, the community of Salih AS up to verse 84. Taking lessons from these stories, concluding this surah is then a directive to the Prophet SAW in dealing with his community of disbelievers, ignore their mockery and slanders, and Seek Allah’s protection by way of his glorification and praise. فسبح بحمد ربك و كن من الساجدين واعبد ربك حتى اتاك اليقين 99.



Surah Nahl 1-126, also called the surah of blessings is a powerful reminder of all blessings to the heedless man - Starting with the blessing of revelation, the man himself, the food from the cattle, its skin for clothing, the horse, mule, and the donkey for rides, the water from the sky that both man and animals drink from and causes the earth to produce the olives, date palms, grapes. Another group of signs is the creation of the night, day, sun, moon, and stars. The third set of signs we see are in the seas, the fish in it that we eat and the pearls that we use as ornaments, and the ships that travel back and forth to help us seek the bounties of Allah. If you count18 concluding this section with the disbeliever’s emphatic denial of life after death 38. 51-76 describes some aspects of their superstitious beliefs and their attitudes towards daughters in general. bringing the discussion back again to some of the other blessings of Allah SWT such as the milk, fruits from the date palm, the honey from the bees, and the blessing of family members followed by ayats about resurrection placed against ayats about the reality of idol worship. To end the surah is an encouragement for the disbeliever to follow Ibrahim AS who was the most grateful to his Rabb.
