The Eastern Zonal Council meeting will be presided over by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday at the West Bengal secretariat. The EZC meeting is expected to be attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her counterparts from Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Sikkim. However, secretariat sources indicated that the chief ministers of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, and Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, would not attend the meeting. Shah is expected to undertake conversations about a variety of topics, including the construction of the eastern freight line and the boundaries of the five states. The conference, which was originally set for November 5 but was postponed due to Shah's unavailability due to other obligations, is slated to include all of the central armed forces' leaders in addition to the CMs.
