The Buffalo City Metro in the Eastern Cape says it has recorded one death at one of its beaches since the beginning of this year's festive season. A young boy was found floating at Gonubie Beach in East London and was retrieved by the National Sea Rescue Institute. As the metro gears up for an influx of revellers at its beaches this weekend, more lifeguards, police officers and safety patrollers have been deployed to the beaches to improve safety.
