European Court of Auditors annual report on the EU budget is out.
This report is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that the EU taxpayers’ funds are used efficiently and effectively to advance the EU's key objectives, including economic convergence, competitiveness, the single market, agriculture, and sustainable growth.
The key finding, and a concerning trend in recent years, is the rising error rate in the EU budget. In 2023 it was material at 5.6 %, compared to 4.2 % in 2022, thus we issue an adverse opinion. In addition, we see serious errors in almost all expenditure categories.
