Formed in late-1986 by brothers Sławomir Maryniewski and Krzysztof Maryniewski, featuring Romuald Czyczyn on drums. 2 Years of hard work and determination followed, as the band had to face technical difficulties (problems to find proper equipment, rehearsal spaces, etc.). In 1988, the first self-titled demo saw the light of day – a cassette distributed among fans in their concerts exclusively.
After going through some line-up changes, the band recorded a second demo entitled Czas Przetrwania in 1989. Subsequently, they appeared at big festivals in their home country, still performing as well on small clubs.
In 1991, with the group’s status consolidated in the Polish metal scene, they entered for the first time a professional studio to record a new demo, Dead Condemnation, which increased the popularity of Armagedon in their home country, giving them the chance to headline major events. International labels showed interest for the demo, including Peaceville Records, which offered them a record deal for the next 3 albums, guaranteeing promotion in Europe and tours outside Poland. However, “the inability to fulfill the terms of the contract by the English label” made the group break the contract and take other offers into consideration.
Eventually in 1993, the long-awaited debut album Invisible Circle was published, recorded at Modern Sound Studio, engineered and mixed by Adam Toczko and released by Carnage Records. Musical differences and personal issues forced the band to dissolve in 1994.
Armagedon was reactivated in 2006 by the Maryniewski brothers, with Tomasz Solnica taking bass duties again, and introducing Adam Sierżęga on drums. This new formation entered Studio X in Olsztyn, in August 2008, to record the first album in almost 26 years: Death Then Nothing. They signed with Mystic Production, which released the album in February 2009.
They experienced more line-up changes in 2013 with Bartosz Mazur replacing bassist Solnica, collaborating with the band on the recording of the third album Thanatology, released in October of the same year.
