In 1973, Alanna Heiss, Director of Clocktower Productions and Founding Director of MoMA PS1, organized an exhibition of Lynda Benglis's Sparke Knots at the Clocktower Gallery in New York.
Nearly 40 years later, on the occasion of Benglis's solo exhibition in New York, Heiss spoke to us about the evolution of the artist's decades-long investigation into knotted forms and the ways in which her bronzes explore ever newer possibilities for expressing proprioception, the body’s ability to perceive its own position in space.
