With the TECNACOMP concept, TECNALIA has developed an advanced robotic end effector that allows the gripping and manipulation of 2D carbon fiber material, deform it and fit it within a mold to generate a complex 3D dry-preform of a CFRP carbon fiber part, that is later on placed in a injection mold to produce the final carbon fiber part
TECNACOMP allows to automate the complex and massively manual process of carbon fiber parts production.
TECNALIA has also developed an online quality control solution to assess the quality of the carbon fiber material lay-up, for each individual layer, guaranteeing correct production and thus correct parts quality.
This is performed by a stereo-vision based 3D dense reconstruction technology.
