Dr Patrick Roycroft, Curator of Geology, discusses the geology collection at the National Museum of Ireland – Natural History, as well as an ongoing collaboration with staff from Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden investigating the contents of the teeth of the Giant Irish Deer Specimens in the Museum. He also talks about research by a team based in Trinity College Dublin into fossils of some of the earliest land plants, held in the Museum’s geology collection, which will have global significance in assessing how climate change effects environments. Just one more way that NMI – Natural History acts as an important research resource, for now, and into the future.
