The term "𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭" was coined about 20 years ago. This technique features various approaches, similar to preservation rhinoplasty, with some variations. Compared to older techniques, the Preservation Facelift offers a more comprehensive rejuvenation of the face by addressing the deep plane and releasing the facial retaining ligaments.

Seeing the landscape of the industry today, compared to when I first graduated and received my certification, is a sense of inspiration for me. Thanks to all my amazing colleagues, we’re more effective than ever at what we do, but a special mention needs to be given to the gentleman I discussed in the video (@drbentalei, @drdominicbray, @nayakplasticsurgery).

Over the years, surgeons like myself have recognized the limitations of traditional approaches and have sought to develop techniques that address not only the skin but also the underlying structures of the face.

The Preservation Facelift is a variation of the 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭, in which the deep retaining ligaments below the SMAS are released and repositioned. The Preservation Facelift minimizes skin elevation, resulting in reduced tension on the skin and a quicker recovery time. The deep plane approach allows me to access and lift the underlying tissues without excessively manipulating or undermining the skin. Additionally, the Preservation faces technique reduces the need for drains, further enhancing the recovery process.

My version of Preservation Facelift is called 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐭™. Which combines a 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐌𝐀𝐒 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩-𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭. What is unique about it is that I use 𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐬 to enhance my patients’ jawlines and utilize special 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞-𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 to firmly lift the neck without excessive skin elevation. My technique is performed under twilight sedation without the need for general anesthesia.

I truly believe the Preservation Facelift represents the next generation of deep-plane facelifting, and I can’t wait to see what I and other incredible surgeons in the community do to continue elevating this technique to the next level.
