September 15th, 2012, was a very proud day for Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection at Paine Field in Everett, Washington. Today marked the first public demonstration of their newly finished Ilyushin IL-2 Shturmovik, Soviet ground-attack aircraft from WWII. More than 36,000 of these legendary machines were produced during WWII and this one is the only example in the world flying today. The aircraft finished restoration in Russia in winter of 2011 and arrived "home" in Everett in early Spring 2012. The pilot flying this aircraft is FHC Restoration Manager Jim Martinelli. Flying the P-47D Thunderbolt "Tallahassee Lassie" is Carter Teeters.
