Jeep's newest SUV, the Compass, takes the place of two models in the lineup: the old-generation compact SUV as well as the Patriot SUV. The new model gets sleek new styling that matches the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee. And although the new Compass is better in many ways than both vehicles it replaces, it's got some problems - including a major one. Its powertrain might just be a deal breaker for some shoppers.
