In an interview with Middle East Eye, Marwan Muasher, Jordan’s former foreign minister, expresses deep concern over Israel’s intentions regarding Palestinians, suggesting a push for their forcible displacement. He warns that ongoing ethnic cleansing activities in Area C of the West Bank could lead to a mass influx of Palestinians into Jordan, describing this as a “real, real concern for Jordan.”
Muasher emphasises that such developments challenge the validity of the peace treaty with Israel, stating, “It is very, very difficult, if not impossible, to maintain the same relationship short of rescinding the treaty.” He further argues that official Israeli rhetoric increasingly threatens Jordan’s security and undermines the distinction between Jordan and Palestine.
