The parallel style has defined groups of flowers, foliage or even vegetables to create this characteristic style. Negative space between each group is important to emphasise the vertical groupings.
This type of arrangements is often front-facing, so its usually seen from the one side and can be constructed in a variety of sizes. Groups can be made using one type of flower or a mixture of varieties and works beautifully in long containers.
If you are new to arranging, take a few minutes to view my Back to Basics series which will explain how to create a very basic parallel arrangement. using a minimal amount of flowers.
