The Royal Navy submarine "HMS Perseus" (pennant number: N36), sunk on 6th December 1941 in the vicinity of Kefalonia Island, Greece.
The wreck was discovered 20 years ago (on 25th december 1997) by a team of greek divers. It lies on the seafloor for 76 years essentially constituting a time capsule, teaching to those who visit her a story of Suffering and Agony in wartime for her crew and all the people, Struggle for life and Survival (only one escaped and swam to Kefalonia, out of 61 men onboard), Solidarity and Self-sacrifice (locals hid the sole survivor for 18 months risking their lives and those of their families).
This is a monument of the past and a lesson for the future..
