The Port neck is a key part of the glass furnace, its main function is to emit flames into the glass furnace and also to take away exhaust gases from the glass furnace. In the process of melting glass, the port neck itself does not directly produce sparks.
However, during the glass melting process, due to fuel combustion, raw material melting, and complex airflow and chemical reactions within the glass furnace, there may be some flame-related phenomena that are not equivalent to direct sparks from the port neck.
The following aspects may be related to flame phenomena:
1️⃣ Fuel combustion: Fuel (e.g., natural gas, heavy oil, etc.) mixes with combustion air and burns at the flame nozzle, producing a high-temperature flame. During this process, the fuel burns smoothly and does not suddenly produce a large number of sparks.
2️⃣ Raw material melting: The glass raw material gradually melts under the action of the high-temperature flame. During this process, the raw material may emit some light or produce bubbles, but these are normal phenomena in the melting process, not sparks.
3️⃣ Airflow and Chemical Reactions in the Glass Furnace: Complex airflow and chemical reactions in the glass furnace may result in changes in flame patterns, such as changes in flame color, brightness, and length. In some cases, if the airflow is unstable or the fuel burns incompletely, brief flame flickering or fluctuation may occur, but this is not the same as sparking.
4️⃣ Abnormal conditions: If there are abnormal conditions in the operation of the glass furnace, such as unstable fuel supply, clogged or damaged flamethrowers, etc., this may result in abnormal flames or even sparks. However, this situation belongs to the category of abnormal operation or equipment failure, not the spit's normal operation when the phenomenon occurs.
As the flame nozzle is directly affected by the impact of the flame and the erosion of high-temperature exhaust gases, its material selection is critical. Usually use high-temperature, erosion-resistant refractory materials, such as fused cast AZS 41# blocks and so on.
