The conclusion of Squid Game season 2 leaves viewers with an even more intense cliffhanger than the first season, as the tournament is still ongoing when the final episode ends. In the last episode, titled "Friend or Foe," things take a violent, though not entirely surprising, turn. After the vote in episode 6 ends in a tie, which could decide whether the tournament should continue, the remaining players feel more tense than ever. This builds up to a brutal fight in the men's restroom, which results in five deaths, including that of Thanos.
Once the fight comes to an end, the players who voted to stop the Games find themselves in a stronger position. They lose just two of their own, while the opposing team loses three. However, Gi-hun, sensing the danger, correctly predicts that their rivals will likely attack them while they’re asleep. He comes up with a plan to survive the upcoming conflict and escape the tournament altogether. Throughout much of Squid Game season 2, Gi-hun has been trying to outsmart the people behind the Games. Now, he suggests they use the inevitable chaos to their advantage. Along with several other characters from the show, he takes action against those running the Games. Sadly, their plan ends up failing in a dramatic way.
