In this video you learn how set your contact points and ignition timing.
This works for all Aircooled volkswagen engines, Porsche 914, Porsche 356, Typ 4 engines, Type 3 watercooled.
First of all you need to get information about your own engine. When setting ignition timing you should set about 7.5 degrees for a
standard engine. 25 and 30 HP engines i recommend till 10 degrees. And 1600 can handle 9.5 degrees.
Also there is lots of information in your owners manual that came with the car, these numbers are still right.
The way i'm doing the timing in this video is same way Volkswagen recommended in the 60's and 70's.
Now these days you got a 'stroboscope' lamp, this tool can set timing for 100%.
When flashing with the lamp i use 8.5 degrees at 850 RPM.
Or with stronger engines i'm using 28 - 32 degrees at 3000 RPM. ( 1600 and 1300 DP, engines Codes AB and AS and AO.
Now this video is just informative help to get you started in practical way.
Thanks for watching and hope i did help you out.
