Syrtos (Greek: Συρτός, also sirtos). Syrtos, along with its relative kalamatianos, are very popular in social gatherings, weddings and festivals. Syrtos and kalamatianos are line dances, done with the dancers in a curving line holding hands.
The hasapiko (Greek: χασάπικο), is a Greek folk dance from Constantinople. Hasapiko is a very popular, relatively modern Greek circle dance. It is a lively hopping style dance, it has become known as the "sailors" dance, a very popular dance at Greek festivals, weddings and special events all over the world. Hasaposerviko which followed the Hasapiko is a fast paced dance and resembles the Jewish "Hora".
Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church sponsored their 45th Annual Greek festival in San Diego, California, entertainment was provided by The Olympians Greek band, and special appearance by Dromia (Balkan Folk Music) playing Greek traditional folk dances, event offered Live Greek music and dancing, with dance exhibitions, kids games, delicious pastries and a variety of Greek foods, various vendors displaying religious, art, jewelry and various cool items, as well as an Agora (Greek Market), event held on June 13, 14, & 15, 2014.
