Taiwan's presidential election in January 2020 might go from a two-way race to a three-way race. There was mounting anticipation that Taiwan's richest man, Foxconn founder Terry Gou, would toss his hat in the ring once the registration for independent candidates kicked off on Sept 13. He quit the opposition Kuomintang (KMT) on Sept 12 after his defeat in the party's presidential primary in July 2019.
