1. The woman who had accused Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi of sexual harassment, today demanded a copy of the report of the Supreme Court's in-house committee that cleared him of the charges. Meanwhile, Women lawyers and activists today held a protest outside the Supreme Court against the dismissal of sexual harassment case against CJI Ranjan Gogoi. The administration in order to avoid any kind of disruption has imposed section 144 outside the Supreme Court as a precautionary measure.
2. BSP Chief Mayawati has indicated that if she gets a chance of becoming the Prime Minister, she might contest from Ambedkar Nagar in Lok Sabha. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and other top BSP leaders have supported her claim for becoming the Prime Minister. Last week, PM Modi had accused Samajwadi Party of “going soft” on Congress, when Priyanka Gandhi Vada attended an SP meeting in Raebareli.
3. Congress MP Sushmita Dev moved the Supreme Court against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'corrupt no. 1' remark at former PM Rajiv Gandhi. In the complaint, the lawmaker said that Election Commission's clean chits to the leader are ""arbitrary and opaque"". While Congress chief Rahul Gandhi replied to him with ""love and a huge hug"" and said he should wait for his 'karma' to catch up, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee condemned the statement and said Rajiv Gandhi had laid down his life for the motherland.
4. A Shiv Sena leader has echoed BJP general secretary Ram Madhav’s statement that the latter’s party may fall short of an absolute majority in the Lok Sabha, prompting it to depend on allies to form the next government. Senior Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that it looks a “bit difficult” for the BJP to reach the 280-seat mark as it did in the 2014 polls.
5. BJP President Amit Shah today responding to the Priyanka Gandhi’s Duryodhana jibe for Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Congress general secretary will know on May 23 that who is Duryodhana and who is Arjuna. Earlier Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi addressing a rally in Haryana’s Ambala said that the BJP leaders try to divert the country’s attention in order to hide their failures.
