How to sow onion sets. Onions are a relatively trouble free crop to grow at home in the vegetable garden. Onions can be planted from seed or from sets (small partly grown onion bulbs). Sets are more expensive but they tend to be more reliable in their results and also require less work - no thinning and reduced onion fly risk. In this video Andrew shows how to sow onion sets with the aid of the grow grid planting mat. The mat is a weed barrier with pre-cut holes cut into it for various vegetable plants.
