This video was taken on Pinware River in early July, 2021. The video was taken using a Sony Action camera with in the water and out of water shots, making the sound not the best.
The video shows an Atlantic Salmon my Uncle Ben had just hooked while I was on Vacation with him Salmon fishing.
While we were fishing our cousin Sammy Pike came to talk with us and have a snack, he has been a licensed guide on the river for years, and is a very experienced Salmon fisherman, however he hasn't fished the river for over a year or more up to this day, in fact he hadn't even put his rod together to fish up to this video being shot.
While I was recording, Sammy was tasked with reaching the Salmon and releasing him, however the Salmon broke free a few seconds before Sammy could reach him. The leader line come off at the connection to my Uncles Salmon line.
As you can see in the video the Salmon broke away from the rod, but before he had a chance to take off Sammy saw the leader line on the water and with a quick swipe of his wrist he grabbed the line and pulled in the Salmon with his bare hands.................lol.............great job Sammy, the first fish he caught for about two years was with his bare hands, he didn't even need a rod.
