Welcome to the Endurance22 Expedition to Antarctica, the largest virtual exchange with an expedition in history! From August 2021 through June 2022, more than 33,000 K-12 students in 25+ countries followed LIVE as an international team of explorers and scientists journeyed to the remote and isolated Weddell Sea off Antarctica in search of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s lost ship, Endurance.
The expedition conducted cutting-edge science, pushed the limits of deep-sea exploration, and made a discovery that captivated the world—all while K-12 students had a front-row seat to the action through livestream events, student-friendly articles, and additional educational resources.
In this recording, Endurance22 Director of Exploration and marine archeologist Mensun Bound explains how Shackleton's famous Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition aboard Endurance was almost called off. Educators are invited to use this learning resource as they relive the excitement of the Endurance22 Expedition with their students.
