On May 12, the Yale Program for the Study of Antisemitism hosted a webinar with James McAuley, Global Opinions Contributing Columnist at the Washington Post, to discuss his new book “The House of Fragile Things: Jewish Art Collectors and the Fall of France.” In a 30-minute presentation, McAuley discussed how elite Jewish families in late nineteenth-century built art collections in the face of rising antisemitism. The presentation was followed by questions from Alice Kaplan, Sterling Professor of French at Yale, and questions from the audience, moderated by Maurice Samuels.
