This Before I Die New Mexico Festival panel discussion focuses on trends in greening your final arrangements and creating eco-friendly funerals. The panelists are:
Jessica Wakefield, CFSP, Better Place Forests, Director of Partnerships, Community & Education ([ Ссылка ]).
Darren Crouch, President and CEO of Passages International ([ Ссылка ]) and President of the Green Burial Council ([ Ссылка ]).
Bryan Beard, co-owner, La Puerta Natural Burial Ground ([ Ссылка ]).
Topics discussed include:
Changes in the demographics of funeral directors and consumer preferences in disposition choices.
Alkaline hydrolysis (water cremation) and Natural Organic Reduction (NOR a.k.a. body composting).
Whole body burial at sea, placing cremated remains at sea, working with cruise ships to do cremated remains disposition at sea.
Open air cremation funeral pyres in the United States.
The difference in cremated remains between fire based and water based cremation processes.
The 2024 Before I Die New Mexico Festival took place November 1-4 at a different location each day in Albuquerque, NM. The festival features entertaining and educational elements that get people to discuss end-of-life issues and plan ahead. Most sessions are being posted on YouTube. @GailRubin is the coordinator of the festival.
