Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit from the New Delhi Assembly Constituency has announced his intention to file both criminal and civil defamation cases against Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP MP Sanjay Singh. This decision comes in response to Atishi's recent allegations that Dikshit has been receiving substantial amounts of money from the BJP.
Dikshit expressed his frustration, stating, "For the last 10-12 years, they have targeted Congress, me, and my family." He recalled a time when AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal had presented a 360-page dossier against the Sheila Dikshit government, which he claims was later requested by a BJP delegation after Kejriwal became Chief Minister. Dikshit emphasized that he has numerous questions for AAP regarding their conduct over the years.
The timing of Atishi's allegations coincided with the passing of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, which prevented Dikshit from holding a press conference immediately. However, he has made it clear that after this announcement, he will pursue legal action against Atishi and Singh, demanding Rs 10 crores in damages. He plans to allocate half of this amount—Rs 5 crores—for cleaning the Yamuna River and the other half for addressing pollution issues in Delhi.
