Incise the skin around the margins of the orbit, nares and lips, taking care not to damage the underlying muscles of facial expression. Make a median sagittal skin incision from the chin to the top of the head, interrupting the incision where it meets the previous cuts at the margins of the lips and nares. Then remove the skin of the face and the anterior half of the scalp.
