They're called zygomatic implants. They're implants that are placed in the zygoma bone or the cheekbone that reach into your mouth. The bone in the cheek is very hard and the implants are very stable. Placing zygomatic implants requires a higher level of skill than placing regular implants. That is a solution. What is appropriate, we readily offer.
A patient that's a candidate for zygomatic implants is a patient that isn't a candidate for traditional implants. And so, by placing implants, longer implants there, that will still appear in the mouth as functional implants like everything else. However, by placing an implant in a good solid cheekbone, zygoma bone, we can still reach the mouth. We can place a functional, stable implant that would allow you to eat like you should.
Zygomatic implants do not affect the shape of your face. Zygomatic implants are placed in such a way, that the prominence of your face cheekbone is not affected by the location of the implant.
The healing time of a zygomatic implant is 3 to 5 days, the same as the healing time for traditional dental implants. You will start to feel significantly better in 5 to 7 days after placement of the zygomatic implants.
