In this surprisingly amusing video, I was sent a message from the past.
Update: It was most of the full album! Sounds like a cassette dub from a low-end machine (probably boom box) - no Dolby NR, no tell-tale signs of it being from a vinyl record, and loud "stop, resume record" pops between some songs. I'm not recording over it because it doesn't sound bad, but it does have that "low end lo-fi" quality that makes it the perfect show-case of what a boombox recording on a Sony HF would sound like. :) I love this kind of stuff!
*Spoiler Alert!* -
So no, I didn't Rick Roll'd you. :) It just so happens that was most of Rick Astly's "Wherever You Need Somebody" album. Besides, the recording was done WAY BEFORE Rick Roll was a thing! And I do love that song from back in the day - as well as his other songs (such as Together Forever). They rearranged the songs, and removed some. Then they added another album by Tiffany Fred with her self titled album, also rearranged and some songs removed to fit the tape.
