President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. attends a welcome lunch hosted by the Philippine Economic Development Cabinet Cluster on the first day of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland on January 16, 2023.
Present are Mr. Joo-Ok Lee (Head, WEF - Regional Agenda for Asia-Pacific/Member, WEF Executive Committee), Ms. Clara Chung (Head, WEF - Business Engagement for Asia-Pacific), Dr. John Chipman (Director-General, International Institute for Strategic Studies) and Mr. Gideon Rachman (Chief Foreign Affairs Commentator, Financial Times), alongside seven of the Philippines’ top business executives including Mr. Sabin Aboitiz (President and CEO of Aboitiz Group), Mr. Kevin Andrew Tan (CEO of Alliance Global Group, Inc.), Mr. Jaime Zobel de Ayala (Chairman of Ayala Group), Mr. Lance Gokongwei (President and CEO of JG Summit Holdings, Inc.), Mr. Enrique Razon (Chairman and CEO of International Container Terminal Services, Inc.), Mr. Ramon Ang (President and CEO of San Miguel Corporation) and Ms. Teresita Sy-Coson (Vice Chairperson, SM Investments Corporation).
In the Philippines’ bid to transition the economy from previous challenges including the pandemic and the impact of the conflict in other countries, President Marcos Jr. underscores in his remarks the importance of the government’s strong cooperation with the private sector and other nations.
In his inaugural participation to the WEF, the Chief Executive is set to stage the significant economic gains of the country as well as promote the nation as a leader and driver of growth – one that is open for business and ready to complement regional and global expansion plans of both foreign and Philippine-based enterprises.
