In August, Pakistan experienced a significant surge in militant attacks, marking the highest monthly total in nearly nine years. The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) recorded 99 attacks, highest since November 2014.
The outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan claimed 147 attacks, though many couldn't be independently verified. These attacks resulted in 112 civilian and security force casualties and 87 injuries. Compared to July, there was an 83% increase in attacks.
Suicide attacks also occurred, with Balochistan and erstwhile Fata being heavily affected. While Punjab remained relatively peaceful, security forces were the primary targets, representing 50% of total deaths and 63% of injuries.
Military fatalities rose by 51% in August, prompting security forces to conduct operations, resulting in the killing of 24 alleged militants and the arrest of 69 individuals across the country.
