The Greens took a major hit at Sunday’s European elections in Germany and across Europe, according to a first projection provided by the European Union. The Greens’ setback came amid rising energy prices, fuelling an ongoing cost of living crisis in the EU. “One of the issues in Germany is that people are very concerned about energy bills, and Germany stopped using nuclear power some years ago under a lot of pressure from the Greens, and some consumers identify that as actually helping push up prices,” FRANCE 24’s Nick Holdsworth said, reporting from Berlin.
