Sai Baba idols are found in many Hindu temples across India. Though there are separate temples for Sai Baba, Hindu devotees have been placing his idols even in ancient temples in recent years. However, a Coimbatore-based priest, D Suresh Babu, has approached Madras High Court with a petition to remove Sai Baba idols, which, he believes, violate “Agama” principles of temples. The Federal spoke to Suresh Babu and experts in religious studies to get some clarity on the controversy.
