The Story~
Back in the fall of 2009, I became inspired ~ "I'll draw a creature a day for a year!", I thought ~ WELL!!! This all started as a new focus to get my mind on track but soon turned into 365 small commissions that were reserved within a month and a half of presenting the idea to friends and my small community.
The pressure was now REALLY on ~ People BELIEVED in me!! So of course I was compelled to make them more personal and complex than just a little sketch. While this changed the project immensely, it resulted in a much different and more intricate series of drawings. I made it through the first 3 months, everyday, creating a drawing and delivering... THEN, I didn't. (This will be described in the book :)
There have been some strange and magical stories along the way, which I'll share with you in the book. Coincidences and information that I could not have known, have shown up in these drawings. Perhaps it has something to do with tapping into the universal creative thread~
I'd like all of these, soon to be 365 "Creatures" to be in one big, beautifully designed book. Within the pages of this book, I'll scribble notes about how each of these characters was born, based on only a few ideas about real people. My hope is that anyone who flips through the pages will find inspiration to draw, to create, or to walk through the day with a smile born from the wisdom of that day's drawing.
I've unwittingly begun mass character development for future books and animation ~Indeed, a much larger & more rewarding endeavor than I had originally set out to do. Time, technology , and support will hopefully bring it all to life! ~ A little bit of magic goes a long way~
