Concerns about “the death of democracy” in the United States have become common in public discourse. But these are mostly conversations driven by thinkers and commentators on the left, reflecting some of their distinct worries. Many conservatives also have profound worries over the health of the American republic, and they need to articulate these concerns in their own terms.
